AICAR
A small-molecule activator of AMPK — the cellular energy sensor that hard endurance training switches on — which is why it's often called an "exercise mimetic." By imitating AMP, it signals to a cell that fuel is running low, prompting it to burn fatty acids, pull in glucose, and build new mitochondria. Animal research has looked at it for endurance, fat loss, muscle-fiber repair after injury, and protecting heart tissue during oxygen deprivation. A nucleotide analog rather than a true peptide.
